The Ludington Area Center for the Arts, in the heart of downtown, is alive with activity. Visitors remark about the excellent dinner they just had at a nearby restaurant, or the items they bought in a unique store. Some sit in the courtyard with wine and cheese and coffee, while others stroll through the exhibits featuring art by local schoolchildren and a traveling collection on loan from the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

diverse communities have one thing in common - they are
all meccas for literary, performing, and visual arts, providing
cultural opportunities that enrich the lives of residents
and visitors alike, and help the local economies thrive.

The Ludington area has an exciting, once-in-a-lifetime
chance to launch its own world of cultural opportunities
for the people who live here. The conversion of the United
Methodist Church of Ludington to a cultural center for all of
the arts is a watershed moment in the region's history.

Proposed renovation highlights for the new
Ludington Area Center for the Arts:

• New entrance and two-story atrium lobby
• Performance hall seating well over 200 in the sanctuary
• New elevator providing barrier-free access to all four levels
• Main ground floor gallery with rotating exhibits from major museums and our many fine regional artists. This flexible space can also accommodate cafe seating, conferences, and public meetings
• Gift shop, ticket office, and barrier-free restroom facilities adjacent to lobby
• Art studios, classrooms (for art education or adult education classes), smaller exhibit spaces, and a large dance studio in the north section of the building
• Dressing rooms, expanded restroom facilities, offices, and meeting/classroom space on the lower level of the performance arts hall

Renovations will be in phased construction over three to five years.
If adequate funding is available, the schedule will be accelerated and some phases will be combined.
